This makes me so happy, The truck is an (arguably soul-less) inanimate object, But if it could feel feelings, it’d be proud of its new shoes. These rims are skinny, couldn’t put 215-60-15 tires on them (I tried, used to be afraid of the tire machine, now I just don’t like it.) My track width decreased about 2 inches, so it steers nicer, but lost some of the broad shouldered stance it had with the crown vic rims. finally found the 5 hole-accepts a baby moon first gen Dakota steelies after I painted these and ordered the moons. might try to find a set of 15" P71 rims to increase rear track.

Also whitewall or no whitewall, I’ll ask the oppos. Not into rims, this is the look I’d like on all my cars if it wasn’t difficult to pull off. the vibe in the background is still wearing it’s steelies because the plan I hatched to snazz up the wheels, pontiac style didn’t clear the front calipers. (I wanted to paint a set of z24 rims to look like a pontiac rally 2, with redline port-a-walls and a firebrid on the hood, (people say I’m crazy, but I just move to my own beat) My customs, tend to be built on the theme of making fun of the car scene as a whole. That car has two different wheelbolt patterns, depending on drivetrain. As I’ve got the poverty edition of the 2010 vibe, my junkyard wheel options are limited. Nothing in the sebring/neon/grand am/ alero/ or pt cruiser wheels tickles my fancy. Malibu has dog dishes, and though not seen in the picture, my wife’s Fit sport has shiny, goofy rims that I metal-flaked in the garage (yes there is g*d damn glitter everywhere, I like it like that.) Any Rim suggestions for 16" junkyard wheels with a 5x100 bolt pattern would be appreciated. might get some salt flats discs for the ease of it, and it might add to the “small zeppelin” look it’s got going.

(It Took like an hour to get this photo from phone to windows 7, to kinja. that’s why I haven’t been posting much, computer in the shop.)

Put me down for about a 2" white. Also, any baby moons and/or dog dishes, I heartily endorse. In fact, I mounted VW spring clips on my new cast aluminum centerline ripoffs so I could use my original caps.

nice, the previous rims had modified taurus sho centres, with the H drilled out of the fronts to clear axles, because the crown vic/marquis centres were unmistakeably old-people-ish. But some ingenuity, a junkyard and black rattlecan fixed that up.

Did ranchero come with 4 bolt 13"s?

Nice! If you leave the truck flat black no whitewall in my opinion.

Yep. Now has 5-bolt 14x6s and 5-bolt 15x7s on 4 1/2" pattern. I did a Scarebird hub/disc brake upgrade for the front and swapped a Jaguar suspension into the back, which I rebored the hub on from 4 3/4".

It’ll be flat black again after round 2 of bodywork, but will return to it’s factory bright red when it’s done. My children insist on it, and 3 generations of the family drove it while red. Red, incidently, is the only option on this truck, Bought new by my Grandfather, as the story goes he was so upset at the delivery charge for 2 yards of topsoil in spring of 85, that he told the gravel truck to take it back. He went out. He came back with this truck and proceeded to haul dirt with it the first day. Since his childhood in the 20's he’d always had a deep love of fire engines. And so, the only think he required from the truck he always wanted was that it be red. Like a fire Engine.

white letter tires (stencil the coolest you can think of (personal favorites are polyglass gt , swamper, radial t/a, cool grip)with the tallest letter that fits)

have you considered re-hooping/barreling? a wheel?...... where you take a center out of a narrower wheel, and weld it into a wider wheel hoop? <<

have thought of white-lettering these tires “Toyota Truck” maybe the new tires when score some wider steelies for the back, should be able to stuff a 235-70-15 back there, the box was built to take big ass rubber, and was puzzled together from the wheelspacing out.

you can get away with wider than that.... probly stuff a 295-50-15 without trying too hard on an 8 wide rim, 10 wide, and it would look awesome.

the 295-50 comes out to 26.5 inch tall, and around a foot wide on an 8 inch rim. from there you could muss with backspacing......

gotta keep the fronts skinny so I can steer it. Switching to wider offset rims made the steering even MORE manual than it already was.
